Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you. ~Frank Lloyd Wright
This spring season is quite the time to be in nature. Last week, North America witnessed a spectacular cosmic event with a total solar eclipse. Millions of people were in the path to view the totality and thousands traveled to get a better glimpse. The sunny day became pitch dark within seconds, and crowds cheered at the breathtaking event. What a beautiful experience of humans coming together in an earthly (moon and sun!) phenomenon. It was a moment in time that people came to see a miraculous event in nature, no fighting, just love and peace, and awe for such beauty. A pause, and a presence! If I could have one wish, it would be that the entire world would feel this connection and peace, always. Nature has always been my inspiration and my love. It is a gift like no other. If one can be still and listen, nature speaks to us as well. Where I live (in Spring), the birds are full of light and love as they sing in the sunshine. It always seems as if they are talking to each other about the weather and how delightful it is. Butterflies are fluttering along on their path of zephyr. Flowers are in full bloom and the smell in the air is delicious, like a delicate fruity elixir. During this transformation, I've been stepping out as much as possible. Being in nature is just as relaxing as my home. I feel home when I am outside. When I create art, my goal is to bring that cozy Earth vibe inside a home (Our first and biggest home inside our individual home!). I just finished an owl painting, and what a beautiful experience that flourished from it! I began the painting in December during the dark, long nights of winter. The colors started out on a blank canvas with a deep purple and a frosty white. The owl looked like a winter owl perched on some branches in front of a full moon. The first night that I began the project, I stepped outside to pull the cushions off of the benches on the front porch. To my astonishment, I heard a faint and slow hoot, hoot, hoot. It was a calm night and the sound was so pleasant to my soul. I stood still and the owl hooted again. It was such a gift - that very single moment I happened to step out - the owl spoke. I haven't heard an owl in years, and I loved every second of the enchanting gift. It was like a sign from the universe that I was meant to create an owl. As the painting progressed, colors started to emerge, and by the beginning of spring the owl was full of life. She is vibrant and glowing with flowers blooming around her; and she became a gift in return.
In honor of nature, I am announcing new sessions on YouTube called Create with Me. A safe space to allow individual creative expression; the sessions are meant for openness. When one takes the time to let go without fear and flow in the creative process, it opens up a window to many ideas and opportunities (you will be surprised what happens!). Rather than focusing on regimented techniques and perfection, the sessions encourage exploring in a natural way without judgement. Please check it out if you have a moment. It is perfect for all ages, and the sessions are nature based. The first one represents Earth Week (April 22-26) and explores sentiments for our planet . I promise you will finish with gratification, inspiration, and eager for more. Plus, I have a special guest that you don't want to miss!
Until next time my friends, keep creating and soaking in life.
Love and peace,
Angela
